A Blind Fury nem sokkal a Satan zenekar Court in the Act lemezének megjelenése után tört be a metal szcénába. Nem véletlen egybeesés volt ez – a Satan gyakorlatilag a Bilnd Fury volt, precízebben a Satan új inkarnációja. Az új névvel a csapat csak egy albumot vett fel, az 1985-ös Out of Reach-et, de ez elég volt hozzá hogy igaz metal ikonná váljanak! Az album az NWOBHM tradícióit követi, de a tisztán technikás játék helyett a csapat a dallamosabb és előrébb mutató irányba vitte tovább a stílust. Bár az Out of Reach kevésbé komplex, mint a Satan utolsó anyaga volt, messze nem rádióbarát produkció, a kritikusok olyan csapatokhoz hasonlították őket, mint a Liege Lord, Attacker vagy az Omen (az amcsi, nem a Kalapács féle). A korong most újra megjelenik a lengyel Metal Mind Productions gondozásában, 2000 limitált példányban, digipak csomagolás, digitális új maszter, aranyozott felület. A Satan egyike volt a korai NWOBHM korszak legfontosabb zenekarainak. A heavy és power metal szellemiségét thrash metal riffekkel ötvözék, az eredmény felejthetetlen dallamok és a heavy metal megújulása lett. A Court in the Act a csapat debütáló lemeze volt, és egyúttal a legfényesebb időszakuk is. A 40 percben előadott tíz dal egyértelműen stílusteremtő volt 1983-ban. Míg a nóták dallamosak egyúttal nagyon agresszívek is, a közelgő forradalmat jelezték előre. Mindkét gitáros, Russ Tippins és Steve Ramsey lenyűgöző teljesítményt nyújtanak, bár stílusukban teljesen különböztek, a duónak sikerült megtalálnia a legtökéletesebb egyensúlyt a játékukban, amit az idő vasfogát is kiálló számtalan riff és szóló bizonyít.

Satan is one of the most important groups that emerged in the early NWOBHM era. Their unique mixture of heavy and power metal spirit with thrash riffage brought a handful of unforgettable tunes and revolutionized heavy music as we know it. “Court in the Act” is their debut release and in the same time their highlight. Ten tracks (including the intro) and over 40 minutes of music that was absolutely groundbreaking for a 1983 release. Satan managed to come up with a sound that was way ahead of their own time. The songs were melodic, but in the same time very aggressive – a sign of an upcoming revolution. Both guitarists, Russ Tippins and Steve Ramsey, delivered a truly amazing performance – although their styles were completely different, the duo managed to perfectly balance their playing and introduce a handful of timeless riffs and solos. The best example of the band’s impressive guitar virtuosity can be heard in the sharp and heavy tune “Break Free”, which features a dazzling 3-minute solo. Other highlights include the intensive “No Turning Back”, the atmospheric “Alone in the Docks” and the epic instrumental track “Ritual”.

Most critics claim that this LP was just a bit too much for the average listener in 1983, when even such bands as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden played music nowhere near as dynamic and aggressive as Satan.

The group was formed back in 1979 in Newcastle, England. At that time the line-up consisted of Steve Ramsey (guitar), Graeme English (bass), Russ Tippins (guitar), Andy Reed (drums) and Trevor Robinson (vocals). As it soon turned out, only the first three remained constant members of the band, as the drummer and vocalist positions changed from one release to another. In November 1981 Satan released “The first demo”, containing four original songs. A year later another demo saw the light of day. “Into the Fire” featured 7 tracks and 2 new band members – Ian McCormack (drums) and Ian Swift (vocals). The release brought the attention of several record labels and in December 1982 Satan managed to record a 2-track single called “Kiss of Death” for Guardian Records (again with Reed and Robinson in the line-up). In early 1983 another label knocked on Satan’s door – Roadrunner Records. After signing a proper deal, the group begun the recording of their debut album – “Court in the Act” – this time with drummer Sean Taylor and vocalist Brian Ross who joined Satan after his former group – Blitzkrieg – disbanded.
