Hét év után új albummal jelentkezik az Ohio-i melancholy sludge funeral doom banda, a Beneath Oblivion. A 64 perces, öt számos The Wayward and the Lost című harmadik albumuk március 23-án, fennállásuk 15. évfordulója alkalmából jelenik meg a japán Weird Truth Productions kiadó jóvoltából, ami az alábbiakban már most végig hallgatható.

Az apokaliptikus black metal/funeral doom zenében utazó brit black metalos Lychgate március 30-án The Contagion In Nine Steps címmel adja ki harmadik albumát.

A banda új dalaiban „megszeg minden szabályt, miközben hidat a Pokol mélysége és a Mennyek angyali ragyogása között„. Ezt mutatja Republic című számuk is, amit a gitáros, Vortigern így kommentált: „A Republic az album intro-dala; amiben orgona játékkal vezetjük fel azt a ritmikus, ütemszerű alap-hangzást, mely az egész albumot jellemzi. A végefelé egyébként őrjöngésbe torkollik, de ettől függetlenül a dalszöveg remekül felvezeti az album össz-koncepcióját, ami a megfertőzött tömegek pszichózisát dolgozza fel, kezdve Platón munkásságának alap-téziseivel.„

Lychgate "Republic" ["The Contagion in Nine Steps" - 2018]

Alább meghallgatható még a Rememberance című daluk, amit így kommentáltak: „Ez az album ünnepélyes záró-tétele, ami leginkább egyfajta nosztalgikus, borús, temetői hangulatot teremt. Eltérően a lemez többi szerzeményétől, ebben a számban csak tiszta, de lassú, vontatott ének hallható. Fontos még egyszer kihangsúlyozni, hogy ez az album utolsó száma, mivel az olyan frenetikusan őrült, bizarr dalok, mint például a ‘Hither Come the Swarm’, ennek pont az erős kontrasztjai.„
